This is not what the walking trails in Minnesota look like today, but I could not bear to post a snowy photo. I think people have seen enough of the white stuff!
Walking trails around Minnesota are at their best toward the end of summer when a few leaves have fallen to add that crunchy sound to the sights and smells that fill your head, and if you follow a trail in this state far enough, you are almost guaranteed to end up at a lake.
Heading out for a long walk is one of my favorite things to do with my family on a late summer day. Something about it has inspired some of our greatest conversations.
This photo was taken with my daughter’s iphone on Labor Day 2009.

Much thanks again to Debbie at Delicious Baby for hosting Photo Friday!

I can’t wait for the weather to get warmer to hit the trail with my kids too!
I agree! I try not to bash winter too much, but I have a serious love affair with the summer months myself.
Thanks for happening by, Amy.
We love to seek out new walking trails. I hope that my children (who are 3 and 5) continue to love to go on nature walks with me when they are in their tweens and teens!
Hi Jen,
Thanks for stopping! I have to admit that sometimes we do have to force them, but we all ending up enjoying it anyway. Kids just don’t know what’s good for them:)
